Finally, a Reason to Wear Heels!

I really needed an occasion. I think I’ve been waiting for one for quite some time. As much as I love my military boots, my zebra printed loafers and my rubber chelsea rain boots, there’s just something about HEELS.

The problem is that I just can’t quite endure heels the same way I used to a few years ago. The thought of a long passeggiata to the centre of town in heels and back seems so daunting. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done it, and you’ll see Italian women and moms in heels all the time, but I just don’t seem to reach for them anymore.

I needed an “evening”, a dinner, an event…..a sit down event….basically, I needed an excuse to wear heels! So when Sofia Malagoli from the Acetaia Malagoli Daniele invited my family to a special event they were hosting, I jumped all over the invite.

You may remember Sofia Malagoli, I’ve written about her here and how she is transforming her family’s small traditional Balsamic Vinegar business. I’ve featured their Acetaia here and mentioned that they specialize in hosting special events in their stunning Villa in the countryside.

This event was hosted by a local optical store, L’ottica di Andrea, to present luxury eyewear brand LINDBERG. The evening began with a lovely cocktail reception and followed with a light dinner and presentation. I love the fact that the Acetaia Malagoli Daniele and Murano Glass jeweler Susanna Martini from La Gioja boutique in Modena collaborated for this event with all of the models wearing original pieces by Susanna to match their glasses!

Even though at first Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, luxury glasses and artisan Murano Glass jewelry may seem to have nothing in common, they are all collaborating together to promote products of excellent quality, all at the forefront of their field.

The event was so lovely and I enjoyed everything from the county location and yummy food, created by Barbara Piccinnini, whom you’ve met here. however, the thing I enjoyed the most, was the free on-site baby sitter and kid’s entertainment, so all of the parents invited didn’t need to find their own baby sitter and could bring the kids along! THAT IS WHAT I CALL HOSTING A PERFECT EVENT!

What I Wore

This brand presentation was a great reminder that I need to dust off my heels more often…heels can actually do a body good! My super pointy heels were purchased in Volturara Irpina, my dad’s hometown, years ago. His childhood friend has a small shoe boutique and every time I go I buy something that I love!

I paired them with high waisted skinny jeans, a green cashmere oversized sweater, a beautiful vintage, woven Rodo clutch that I found at a church sale in Bologna and a beautiful Yosa Uk bracelet that was a gift from one of my favorite blogging friends Angele from The European Malteser.
