I’m not sure whether is was the cohesive presence they channeled on stage, the killer percussion that kept the energy up, or the unique vocals of lead singer Christian Hjelm, but Figurines (@figurinesband) completely owned The Knitting Factory last night. Openers, the Pomegranates (@pomegranatesart), were also the perfect introduction to the evening, sharing lead vocal duties, swapping instruments and keeping things very interesting.

Amidst bobbing heads and swaying bodies, Figurines harmonized perfectly and transitioned seamlessly from song to song, making the set seem more like one continuous performance rather than a series of disjointed tracks. Though this was my first time to see them play, the show was absolutely one that I would repeat again. The band members certainly know how to wail and charm their way into the hearts of their audience — a feat not easily achieved in the lull of a Wednesday night.
