#FF is a weekly series of posts from The Wild Honey Pie where we suggest one music-related person for you to follow on Twitter and tell you why they’re so great.
Electronic/indie project Cassettes Won’t Listen (@cassettes), a.k.a. Jason Drake, has a Twitter feed that’s expertly divided into tweets that are self-promotional and tweets that are apt to evoke a reaction — even if that reaction is just a slight smile. By interspersing casual musings on current events and shared experiences such as grabbing a coffee or waiting on line at the post office, Drake establishes himself as a Twitterer who knows what the platform was truly designed for and uses it to retain genuinely interested followers. Though @cassettes tweets information that invites interaction, he seems reluctant to respond to followers. He does, however, use Selective Tweets and is active over on his Facebook page. Hopefully he’ll transfer the conversations to twitter soon, though. Who wouldn’t want to comment on a newly remembered favorite band or what kind of restaurant Drake should open up?
“working on a studio upgrade. new macbook pro, NI plugins, monitors, microphones, etc etc etc. The next record is going to be bananas. #fb”
“Maybe I should have skipped those last 18 beers.”
“Forgot how much I love Yo La Tengo.”
“After years of watching Good Eats, I no longer need to go to culinary school. Maybe I’ll open a restaurant. But what kind? #homeschooled #fb”
