Feeling French.

Feeling French.
Classic french style is one that I think I will always be in love with: the insouciance, and effortless elegance speaks to me like no other, and worn by girls like Josephene de la Baume and Clemence Poesey, it is one that I would love to naturally emulate. Unfortunately, I was born just on the wrong side of the channel, but it will never stop me from trying.
Firstly, the clothes. A uniform of black and white seems to serve the French pretty well, and you can't forget the stripes. A classic, basic t-shirt thrown over a pair of black jeans and boots is pretty much parfait - never too try hard, with just the right amount of chic thrown in. For makeup, I think of the French keeping it very au naturel - walking around bare faced everyday, with perfect, glowing skin, and for special occasions, a red lip or winged eyeliner, but never both at the same time. Favourites of mine are the Revlon Lipstick in In Love with Red, or Nars Lip Pencil in Amsterdam, and for eyeliner the Benefit Push Up liner is my new love - all have amazing staying power, so you won't have to worry about touching up throughout the day. Hair is kept wavy with just the right amount of texture (read: no hairbrushing), you need to look like you haven't done anything to it at all, but never so much that it looks untidy. A messy bun or similarly unkempt style should work, but I like to quickly run my curling tongs through my hair, mine are the 1 inch ones from Conair, mess it up roughly with my fingers and then spray in a little texturising spray, like the Charles Worthington Texturising Spray, which also helps to create masses of volume.
Et Voila! A look with a little je ne sais quoi, and I kind of love it.
