WHATFee Fi Fo Fum Triple IPA (11.1% ABV)

WHEN & WHERE: Available now in limited quantities as a single 12oz bottle across Odell’s 15-state distribution footprint (Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Wyoming, New Mexico, Idaho, Arizona, Illinois and Iowa).

ABOUT: From Odell: “We were excited to brew an unapologetically big beer. The Triple IPA is an exciting style and the 12oz single bottle felt like the right package,” explains Bill Beymer, Brewing Manager. “The real trick is finding the balance between the higher malt bill and the hop bitterness and aroma. We’re really looking forward to sharing this one with our fans.”

Fee Fi Fo Fum is a giant of a Triple IPA, brewed with a colossal amount of American hop varieties including Chinook, Azacca, and Mosaic. With a full body and notes of sticky pine, tropical fruit, and citrus, this triple packs a resinous hop punch.

“This is the perfect time of year to release a Triple IPA,” notes Beymer. “Our brewers had free reign to select some of the freshest and most exciting hops from our 2017 harvest.”

MY THOUGHTS:  Seeing as how Odell’s Myrcenary Double IPA has been one of my favorite Colorado beers for several years, I was really looking forward to trying Fee Fi Fo Fum, Odell’s latest Cellar Series beer. And I was not disappointed.

Upon first sniff, it’s obvious that Fee Fi Fo Fum is packed with a variety of hops. As far as taste goes, it’s pretty similar to Myrcenary in that it strikes the perfect balance of malt and hops. One noticeable difference is that Fee Fi Fo Fum has more of a resinous, piney aftertaste, whereas Myrcenary’s is slightly sweeter. I would say Fee Fi Fo Fum is like an amped-up version of Myrcenary. If you like Myrcenary, this beer is for you: it’s higher in alcohol content (11.1% compared to 9.3%) a little hoppier, and is full of resinous flavor. BIG on taste, this giant of an IPA is a limited edition and won’t be around long. Check your local liquor store, or use Odell’s Beer Finder to see where you can find yours.
