Dutch quartet Fayette play a intricate kind of progressive power pop on their Voyage Voyage EP. Imagine a bit of Radiohead holding hands with Portishead and The Gathering, with the jangling guitars mixed up front. Singer Dagmar Dia Kroes keeps it subtle most of the time, but she can be agressive as well when a song needs a more rocking approach, with Fast Cities serving as Exhibit A.
Being on the road is the main subject of their lyrics, both as a means to discover new things and as a escape from ennui. With this release they are on the right track to get noticed. Fayette is a band that will be embraced by early adopters, who can latch upon something worthwhile from the get-go and spread the word to others who are not as deep into music as they are.
Fayette:
Dagmar Dia Kroes: vocals
Ruud Roodbeen: guitar, vocals
Rutger Dragstra: drums
Rutger Berendsen: bass
Jaap Lagerweij: guitar
