I spent the last couple days in Napa, visiting some tremendous wineries and enjoying some fabulous tastings. More than anything this trip, though, the remarkable scenery was what I took away with me. Crisp, clean air…a brief rainstorm that left droplets on leaves and scattered fall foliage about…clouds hovering over the mountains as the sun poked through…and brilliant autumn colors on the vines that were as bold and vibrant as any painting.
Some examples…
- The Napa Valley from the veranda at Hall Rutherford
- The Cabernet Franc vines at Hall Rutherford
- Peju Province Winery
- Barrels in the Hall Rutherford wine cave just add to the colors of fall that are all around right now.
- At Peju Province, a massive hand-painted/stained glass feature in the main tasting room , a work of art that dates back 100+ years. Absolutely stunning in person.
- Flora Springs Vineyards
- Trefethen Vineyards
- One of the many beautiful bottles from Grgich Hills, this one an Italian varietal.
- Flora Springs has just a few left of this commemorative Halloween-theme Syrah bottle designed by artist Wes Fried.
