Fall Back into Fall and the Simple Moments

By Samantha Curtis @hooahandhiccups

I’m sharing #JOHNSONS in my life as part of a JOHNSON’S® sponsored series for Socialstars™

Daylight Savings Time is such a weird concept, don’t you think? All of a sudden we’re just shifting forward or backwards an hour? I think as an adult I drag every time it happens but for whatever reason, it’s super hard for kiddos. Mine have never had too tough of a time and I am so thankful for that. But as I watched it get darker way earlier the other night, I realized that I’m not taking advantage of these fleeting moments. That I’m so anxiously anticipating bedtime that I’m not realizing how fast time is moving. And that I need to fall back into fall and the simple moments in life.

I’m not a perfect mom. And I’ll be honest with you, I’ve been having a really hard time lately. The age gap between the two of them is only two years and six days and it apparently it’s WAY too close. Because they fight like cats and dogs and I play referee all day. It’s SO stressful. My mom keeps telling me that’s just what happens when you have kids that close in age but no matter how many times I rationalize it in my head, I can’t keep calm. But then again, maybe I’m depriving them of what they really need… just more attention.

It’s hard to be present in my line of work. There’s always emails coming in or something that needs posted. And no matter how many times I tell myself I’m not going to look at my phone and that emails can wait, I never follow through with it. They always want to play and I’m always tired, and I know I need to cherish these moments. Because they’ll be gone before I know it. So I’m really going to make an effort to get ahead on my work and be more present. It’s my absolute favorite season so it’s time to plan some fun activities for my babes!

I’ve never realized how many things are in a close vicinity to where we live. And it’s unfortunate I’m just now getting out to explore! But we headed to a farm with friends and enjoyed some fall activities. And yesterday, I packed a picnic and then headed to the playground and library. Little things that are free, simple, and bring so much joy to my kiddos. And I realized I don’t do it enough.

Another one of our favorite activities is bath time. The kids would stay in the bath all night if I let them. We love JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE™ Extra Moisturizing Baby Wash and Extra Moisturizing Cream, especially in the cooler weather. My daughter insists I carry her like a baby while she’s wrapped up in a towel fresh out of bath time and I’ll take all the snuggles I can get. My son likes to play “monster” or “apple” and we pretend to take bites out of him and vice versa. I love their little imaginations and will cherish these moments all my life.

Take some time to slow down friends… you’ll want it back someday. Fall back into fall with the simple moments… then at least you’ll have the memories

🙂
