So as you all know, my skin is literally as white as the snow and while in the winter, I am more than happy to embrace the ghost face, it is quite nice to have a little glow in Summer time...
#FakingNotBaking
I have always been an advocate of never using sun beds and always using sunscreen and so going to a sun bed or baking outside in the heat was never ever going to be the answer for me SO that left one option - fake tan! GROAN.
It was going to take something special to make me want to fake tan, I've had bad experiences with fake tan before and I really wasn't keen on the whole standing like a starfish for half an hour while it dried, UNTIL Fake Bake's new 60 minute fake tan was sent to me to try. Apparently It dries instantly and I could sleep in white pajamas without getting orange biscuit smelling tan everywhere! So I thought I would put it to the test.
Application Application was easy really, you just exfoliate (I used Fake Bake's exfoliator - works well and smells amazing) and make sure you shave the day before. Put on the black gloves that are supplied then put the mitt on one hand. Spray the product a few times onto the mitt and work in long strokes across your body. Use a light hand! Leave it on for an hour for a light tan (which I did), 2 hours for a medium bronze or 3 hours for a deep glow. Shower using water only.
Drying Time 5 minutes literally! I was Starfish free.
Smell There was no biscuit smell during application, but after I showered I did notice a slight biscuity whiff!
Colour I hate anything that makes me look orange but this gave a 'slightly darker than light' tan which I loved, I couldn't stop looking at my skin! I also tanned my face with this and I have to say I didn't get a single bit of "stripey chin" at all! I was really impressed but the color continued to develop over the next few hours and I had a proper shower in the morning and after that felt even better because I felt like some of the tan was still 'sitting' on my skin.
Any Streaks? Not one single streak or patch and I'm a complete fake tan novice. Being plus size I have a few bits of fat that sometimes look like creases or folds and normally fake tan sits in those areas, but my tan was completely even - fat folds and all!
How Long Does It Last? I applied this on Thursday 19th June and I am writing this on Wednesday 25th June and I still have a nice glow - the color is slightly lighter than it was at the beginning of the week but not one bit has become dry or patchy.
Any Bad Points? Slight Biscuit smell after first shower and I did notice that I had some tan on the underarms of my white dress but nothing in comparison to other tans and I didn't notice any on my bed sheets or pajamas etc.
I am completely converted and will likely use this on a regular basis. At £21.20 from Feel Unique, this is a little bit pricey but definitely worth it's money - I would say you would get a good 10 applications from this depending on how much skin you have to cover (I have a bit more than some!)
HELP - I don't know how to match my foundation to my fake tan! I am so used to having such pale skin that I am really struggling to match darker foundation to my tan - any tips would be REALLY appreciated so please let me know in the comments below.
What do you think of the Fake Bake 60 Minutes Fake Tan?
