Fake Baby Carriers Buyer Beware!

By Earthseamama @earthseamama
I thought when I bought my Moby Wrap that would be it! I LOVED it so much there could not be anything better. LOL Someone told me baby wearing was addictive... and I didn't believe them. So far I have owned a Crotch Dangler (Infantino)...my beloved Moby Wrap, Maman Kangourou Wrap, Taylor Made Ring Sling...my latest addition  Ellaroo Woven Wrap AND next week I am buying an Ergo Sport! I have sold the Crotch Dangler, the Maman Kangourou Wrap and I will be selling my Ring Sling. I can't justify having more than 3 carriers at one time because I only have one baby!
Fake Baby Carriers Buyer Beware!
I only use the Moby for nursing Baby F to sleep at night now...it is much to stretchy to support his weight while I am standing for any period of time. I will never sell my Moby I will be saving it for our next baby. I also am not planning on ever parting with my Ellaroo Woven because I just love it too much!! The Ring Sling was great and I still use it for grocery shopping but I prefer to wear the baby's weight across 2 shoulders I find it much easier on my back. So I am selling with the Ring Sling so that I can buy the Ergo Sport.
Fake Baby Carriers Buyer Beware!I am buying my Ergo from a Facebook buy & sell group in my area, It is brand new in the box for only $65. Tonight I decided I would check out Ebay and see what the Ergo Sport prices were like on there and I found a wholesale ad of SIX Ergo Sport carriers ending in 21 hours and the bid was only at $26 with free shipping...I thought wow that is too good to be true...the seller had good ratings but I read the 2 negative feedback's that were left and they said FAKE ERGO! ...I was confused because the photo looked to me like a real Ergo it had all the right tags and was identical to the authentic Ergo's I have seen. Upon further research I found that there are a lot of FAKES out there that really appear to be authentic at first glance.
Buying a fake baby carrier is not like buying a knock off Gucci purse! Fake baby carriers are dangerous because they may look similar to the real thing doesn't mean that it is as SAFE as the real thing! I Google searched "Fake Baby Ergo" and came across a number of posts by Mothers who purchased fake Ergo's and the waist buckles have snapped!
I started to get concerned that maybe the one I am planning on buying could be a fake because the seller is only asking $65 and it is new in the box never been used. The Ergo Sport retails for around $115 retail. I contacted the seller and asked where she purchased it and thank god she got it on Baby Steals and not on Ebay! I did some more research just to make sure that the Ergo's from Baby Steals are in fact authentic, and I have compared photos of Fake and Real Ergo Sport carriers so I know what I am looking for when I go to purchase my Ergo! HERE is a link to another blog with photos on how to spot a FAKE Ergo.

Fake Baby Carriers Buyer Beware!

Poor Quality Ebay Mei Tai

A few months ago I wanted to buy a Mei Tai Carrier, not knowing any better I decided I should buy one on Ebay to save some money. I found an auction for a really cute Mei Tai and won it for around $25 I thought that I got an amazing deal because these retail for much much more. I posted on an on line forum about my fantastic buy and one of the other forum members posted a link warning that the carrier I had just purchased is very poorly handmade and dangerous! My heart sank. I contacted the seller and asked for a refund before the item shipped and I did get most of my money back but she charged me a re stocking fee. These carriers use to be called Be Bella but she recently changed the name probably due to the amount of bad reviews that were circulating the Internet. HERE is a link to her Ebay store. And HERE is a link to a post by someone who bought and ripped apart the carrier to show the quality of it.
Moral of the story...when it comes to baby wearing you get what you pay for!
