Facebook Messenger Introduces Free Video Calling in 18 Countries

In addition to voice calling, now you can video call all your Facebook friends and family for free through the Facebook Messenger app. Facebook has rolled out the new feature in 18 countries, as its first step to take on Google Hangouts and Skype.

“You can quickly start a video call from any conversation with just one tap. If you’re messaging with someone and realize that words just aren’t enough, you can simply choose the video icon in the top right corner of the screen and start a video call right from within an existing Messenger conversation.”

New feature will bring in plenty of new users to Messenger, since it allows Facebook users an easier way to connect with their existing friends without having to sign up with a different service.

Video calling in Messenger is now available on iOS and Android in Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the US and Uruguay. New feature will roll out to other countries over the coming months.
