We should always find ways to celebrate the little things in life. What better day to celebrate these little things than the best day of the week? So, here are the things that make this a Fabulous Friday for me this week.

DAY OFF – The best part about today is not having to get up early to get ready for work. I took the day off to drive to Detroit for Holly’s Irish dance competition tomorrow morning. Last year, we went after school, and it was horrible. This year, she has no school so we decided to leave much earlier and try to enjoy the trip by avoiding Chicago during rush hour. Anything is better than last year.

HOLLY’S FEIS – I love watching Holly dance, but there is something about Irish dancing that really makes me excited. She only dances for less than two minutes total for the entire day, but everything about it is awesome. Some of it has to do with the history behind it. These competitions have been held the same way for decades with the dancers all doing the same thing that they did fifty years ago. It is one of the truly technique-only competitions, so it is a much more even playing field IMO. This year, Holly has moved up a level, so I am excited to see how she does.
