FAA Ban Puts an End to Amazon’s Drone Delivery Plans

“If an individual offers free shipping in association with a purchase or other offer, FAA would construe the shipping to be in furtherance of a business purpose, and thus, the operation would not fall within the statutory requirement of recreation or hobby purposec,” FAA stated in a document.

Basically, this limits the use of drones to only recreation and hobby activities. It will probably take a long time before it allows the use of drones for commercial purposes, even if a company offer the delivery for free. Obviously, the world is not yet ready for this type of technology.
