Our Director of Research, Dr. Marsal Gavaldà, is one of fourteen researchers who were invited to present at IEEE’s Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding Workshop in the Czech Republic. Speakers were hand selected from both academia and industry, and identified as thought leaders who are working to advance the automatic speech recognition and understanding field forward. The conference takes place December 8-12th, and is sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world’s largest technical association with the lofty goal of supporting innovation that improves the quality of our lives.
With anticipatory search technology, real-time human conversations are enhanced with relevant and dynamic content. Gavaldà’s presentation, entitled “Augmenting conversations with a speech understanding anticipatory search engine,” will break down the components that make this kind of engine work. Specifically, Gavaldà will discuss how the melding of natural language processing, speech recognition, and information retrieval techniques can be harnessed for powerful predictive computing applications.
