If you’re a jet-setting socialite, chances are that you haven’t given much thought on how to wear trends like ruffles without looking a little out of place. Nope, you probably just went on your merry way, wearing Valentino all across the Riviera.
But, if you’re reading this, chances are that you’re not a socialite. Instead you’re probably someone who wants to make sense of a few trends and how they work into your wardrobe for work and play.
One of my favorite trends of the season are ruffles – but, hold up a minute, girlfriend. I’m assuming you want to be taken seriously in life, so you should know that wearing ruffles is a little like a sartorial high-wire act. One misstep and you might end up looking like an oversized ballerina.
Yes, that’s a bad thing.
So, to help you integrate this trend into your rotation, I’ve compiled a list of ruffled garments which I think would make great additions to your spring/summer wardrobe.

Also, here are a few hints to help you find ruffles:
- Look for structured ruffles over very frilly ruffles
- Look for large, drapey ruffles over shredded ruffles
- Pay attention to where ruffles add volume – over the bust, arms, hips?
