Europe 2016 – Turkey (1)

Posted on the 16 November 2016 by Cendrinemedia @cendrinemedia

All my friends who visited Turkey had warned me: "You will love going there."

If you have followed me for a while, you know that I visited Syria in 2009. So, my expectations were quite high. And boy was I impressed!

Our first stop was in Miletus, an ancient prominent Greek city on the western coast of Anatolia. Its ruins are located near the modern village of Balat in Aydin Province.

Miletus was the home of philosopher, mathematician and astronomer, Thales of Miletus (6th-5th century BC), and architect Isidore of Miletus. It also welcomed St Paul on his final journey to Rome.

Miletus has an impressive 25,000-seat Greek theater, reconstructed by the Romans, as well as a Temple of Apollo and a Byzantine church.
