Many of you enjoyed my little experiment with raindrops. So here are a few more for your viewing pleasure.
For those who wonder about photo #5, it's Mount Vesuvius. Yes, the volcano that destroyed Pompeii and Herculanum in 79 AD!
The last two photos perfectly sum up the meaning of the word 'vacation'. It was my second time cruising, the first one being in Alaska in 2008. While they were very different experiences, they were both excellent ways to discover some of the most beautiful places in the world at a relaxed pace.
To many, cruising is a luxurious form of travel. It's true to some extent. However, if you really pay attention to costs, it's not much more expensive than staying in hotel rooms and eating at restaurants three times a day. And you get great perks, such as entertainment and great food variety all day long.
Staff are very nice, especially if you leave decent tips and take the time to talk to them. I always try to remember that the people who clean and cook for us deserve to be treated with respect. They work hard and don't get a lot of time off.
The cruise may have been over, but my friend and I continued our journey. After the ship landed back in Civitavecchia, we took the train to Florence.
