Estée Lauder Will Launch Modern Muse

By A Beauty Feature @abeautyfeature

Estée Lauder will launch Modern Muse, a new fragrance for women, in September 2013. Modern Muse is reportedly the brand’s “first major women’s scent statement” since 2003′s Beyond Paradise and aims to “cast women as stars in their own lives”. Following a ten-year period in which it launched not a single perfume, Estée Lauder will reenter the fragrance fold this fall with a new scent called Modern Muse. Intended to reassert the New York brand as a “fragrance powerhouse,” the cool woods, mandarin, tuberose, lily, and two types of jasmine-tinged eau will also feature a Craig McDean-lensed ad campaign starring Arizona Muse.

Perfumer Harry Fremont tried to express the duality of the composition by creating a two accord composition of sparkling jasmine (which symbolizes femininity) and sleek woods (representing strength). The first accord, accord of jasmine, blends exotic notes of mandarin, tuberose, fresh lily, honeysuckle, dewy petals, Sambac jasmine and Chinese Sambac jasmine absolute. The sleek woods accord combines two types of patchouli, Madagascar vanilla, amber wood and soft musk.

Described as a “lush floral woody” scent, the upcoming fragrance is composed of contrasting notes, which the company describes as a “dual-impression” structure. The fragrance features a sparkling jasmine accord, which is boldly contradicted with the accord of sleek woods.

“We built Modern Muse by carefully selecting every ingredient to reflect the personality, style and distinctive femininity of today’s woman,” says Karyn Khoury, senior vice president, corporate fragrance development worldwide, the Estée Lauder companies. “The ‘dual-impression’ creative approach offers each woman the opportunity to connect with the fragrance in her own way. Some will focus on the sparkling floral elements of the fragrance, while others will view the warm, rich woodiness as the defining facet.”

Advertisements will begin soon in magazines, on TV and online soon. Modern Muse, in its baby pink and navy blue bow-adorned bottle will be available beginning September 2013.
