Let’s come to the Packaging:
I absolutely love the cute, neat and sleek packaging of Essence All About Matt Oil Free Makeup Foundation. It is absolutely travel-friendly, taking the size and shape into consideration it can fit neatly anywhere without occupying much space. It comes in a squeeze-tube packaging with a tiny nozzle for dispensing the product and a bright pink cap for protecting the contents and covering the nozzle. One has to be extra careful and be a little light handed while taking out the foundation because this has a runny texture and applying more pressure can give you double the amount than you actually need. The nozzle accumulates much of the product at its mouth and some of the product gets accumulated in the inner portion of the cap as well.
Fragrance of Essence All About Matt Oil Free Makeup Foundation
It is fragrance-free. There’s no particular fragrance except for a teeny tiny amount of weird synthetic smell which comes from it.
Talking about the Texture and Consistency:
I found the texture and consistency of Essence All About Matt Oil Free Makeup Foundation actually quite runny. It isn’t very thick or oily and greasy, instead it is quite water based. This is a boon for people like me with oily and acne-prone skin. I am always looking for oil-free foundations that don’t break me out and this hasn’t done anything as such. Also applying this with a beauty blender or sponge gives a good finish to the face. I also use my fingertips to blend in the foundation. It dries out quickly hence you better be fast in blending the foundation neatly everywhere.
It feels mattified on the skin and gives a vibrant and radiant finish to the face. It goes from being liquid to absolutely light and breathable soft skin that looks young, fresh and moisturized. And none the less intensely sporting a flat matte finish.
Coverage:
The coverage of Essence All About Matt Oil Free Makeup Foundation is buildable to the extent of how you want to wear it. It’s from light to medium at the most. Not a very high coverage foundation, but does its job decently well and on a budget. If you want a natural look and want to sport it everyday then take a little amount of this product, initially, you can take more of the foundation in case you are looking for a nice glow and if you are attending a wedding or a function. But its advised to take the desired quantity of the foundation at once and don’t layer it. That makes the face look very caked up and messy.
Coming to the part of covering my imperfections, well it didn’t make me look completely poreless. And it does hides minor few imperfections from the face but in case if you have a problematic skin then applying a concealer underneath is the best option. The best part was I only had to moisturize my face and apply the foundation on top immediately, it blended well under the eyes as well. No priming was needed. I wasn’t excessively sweating after wearing this foundation and it looks good in photographs as well. The foundation made me look a bit pinkish in my photos.
However, the 12 hour claim about its staying power is not at all true as it starts fading after 4 hours as per my experience and skin type. Also the intense summers can be a true killer and reduce its longevity and melt it away. I wasn’t sweating much when I wore it in the daytime while shopping with my friends, only the glow and the product fades away from the skin. Rest the skin looks healthy as if you are wearing a tinted moisturizer. All in all this is a very good foundation for all skin types. Dry skin beauties cannot skip moisturization because of its mattifying effect.
Shade details
The shade of matt sand is yellow undertoned, the shade matt nude is quite neutral shade and will suit medium to fair skin tones easily. And the shade matt Beige is slightly pink undertoned and is the lightest or fairest shade amongst all. I am not exactly sure about shade matt Mahogany, but I am assuming this is the option for dusky skin beauties.
The pros:
- How can I not love the neat, sleek and stylish packaging! The bright pink cap on the squeeze tube is absolutely the cherry on the cake.
- Travel-friendly packaging, Leak proof and safe.
- Not tested on animals.
- The price is definitely what makes it worth a catch. A foundation which is good enough to be sold at the price of a BB cream or tinted moisturizer. Hard to find such budget-friendly options in the market.
- The vibrant, radiant soft and smooth glow it gives on the application is worth the hype totally.
- Doesn’t cause any breakouts
- Oil-free foundation which is hassle-free to apply and blend.
- Non greasy, non-sticky
- I sometimes skip my moisturizer and it still blends and absorbs well into my face. ( my skin is oily hence I do not have any dry patch).
Cons:
- The build-up of product around the nozzle makes it hard to clean and leads to product wastage, hence one has to be careful while dispensing the right amount of product.
- The shade card is limited to only four shades.
- People with problematic skin have to use a concealer for hiding blemishes or marks and scars. As this gives light to buildable medium coverage.
- Can be hard for dry skin beauties to blend this foundation properly on the face. They cannot skip moisturizing because of the flat matte effect and texture.
- The 12 Hour long-lasting claim isn’t true. Starts fading after 4 hours.
My Final Verdict:
I would Recommend as well as try out other makeup products from the range of Essence. If they are having budget-friendly BB and CC creams as well as foundations, its worth to invest in such quality products. Just find yourself a perfect shade match for this foundation and then you are done. If you are a college going student and want to look something pocket-friendly in terms of their price then you can go ahead and buy it.
