One will die.
Prepare yourselves (and break out the tissues!) Once Upon a Time fans as Sunday’s episode of the ABC fantasy hit will feature a big death that will rock Storybrooke.
In preparation of the epic episode, we chatted with Jennifer Morrison, Robert Carlyle,Ginnifer Goodwin and more at the 2013 PalyeyFest about the new family dynamics, the big decision that will rock a fan favorite character and what new obstacle will stand in true love’s way! Plus, who is Regina (Lana Parrilla) ready to “take down”?
“We came up with that last year, and we knew right from the beginning. We knew in episode nine last year when Emma lied to Henry about her father, we knew it was going to be Bae,” creator Edward Kitsis explains of the decision to make Rumplestiltskin Henry’s (Jared Gilmore) grandfather. “Of course our fans are so smart that they caught up, so we were like do we switch it? But for us what was important was that it was a family connected. If Gold wasn’t Henry’s grandfather, his choice would be easy.”
As for what’s ahead now that it’s been revealed that Gold is Henry’s grandfather, Morrison says, “It will be interesting to see because there’s also the complication where Rumplestilskin knows that Henry will be his undoing from the Seer. So that obviously adds an element of danger now that we know that he’s aware of being family with Henry, and now doesn’t want to lose his son, Baelfire, again. Also he feels like he’s going to need to do something to keep Henry from being his demise. It does set up a really intensely creepy and sort of suspenseful situation within the family dynamic.”
But it isn’t just new family dynamics Gold has to worry about. “I think what he ends up doing to her is something she could have never foreseen and it’s just shifted their relationship,” Parrilla teases of Gold and Regina in “The Miller’s Daughter.” “Regina’s ready to take him down.” Parrilla also says fans can expect to see Regina go “pure evil.” Yikes.
Sunday’s episode is also a huge game-changer for Snow White, with Goodwin telling us, “Snow’s going to be faced with a decision that will change completely how she feels about herself and if she’s not the Snow White of the storybooks, she doesn’t really know what she is.” Oh, and her decision will definitely impact her relationship with Charming (Josh Dallas). What happens to Snow and what will shake her self-definition will affect each of their feelings about whether or not they should go back [to Fairy Tale Land],” she teases.
