Thank goodness for functional decor. A few years ago when we were decorating the boys' room, I had an idea to create a chalkboard on their closet doors. It was very easy to do. All you need is chalkboard paint and a flat surface to paint on, and you've got yourself a chalkboard.
With the boys being stuck in the house, that was our first go to activity. Armed with sidewalk chalk, M and J, embarked on a mission to create, and well, do some scribbling.
The boys drew pictures and M practiced his letters.
I was also thankful for a few fun child-friendly apps I downloaded on my droid for entertainment emergencies such as this one. Apps like Kids Doodle, Kids Shape Puzzle, Kids Connect the Dots, and Kids Numbers and Math, really helped to ward of television for a while. The kids had a blast with the doodles. J especially liked watching the different color lines show up on the screen. M, as usual was a wiz with the puzzles and numbers. It was a great way to keep them occupied and introduce them to technology.
There are also iphone versions of most of these apps which you can find on itunes or the apple app market. Enjoy!
