Enhanced La Bel Netlabel Profile
That was Calmness by Madoka Ogitani on our featured netlabel: La bèl, from Rome, Italy.
La bèl was started in 2010 by Adriano Bossola and Elisabetta Luciani. Musically they focus on acoustic, folk, pop, rock, experimental and ambient music. Currently they have thirty releases from twenty-two artists in their catalog, and release about five albums each year. Their releases are available in FLAC, MP3, and OGG formats, and occasionally they produce hand-made, limited edition CD’s.
La bèl makes their releases available via the Internet Archive, Free Music Archive, BandCamp, SoundCloud and YouTube. They can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
The mission of La bèl is “…to be a guiding light for good music (Possibly free with Creative Commons License)…” They go on to state:
La bèl netlabel loves the experimentation, the sound of footsteps on the snow, internet & technology, the spring, the sun on the face, listen to music before falling asleep, being alone in the middle of the night,the cries of children that go out of school,the smell of the rain on the warm asphalt,the time of waiting, the moment before each arrival…

1. Please introduce yourself / yourselves.
Di Bos & Elisa Luu are web-friends and music is our greatest and only passion.
2. How did you decide that you wanted to run a netlabel? (Did anyone or anything inspire you to do this?)
We met on MySpace. We liked each other music and we had a idea of a project that has led us to create La bèl.
3. Why did you decide to release your works under a Creative Commons license?
From the start we loved the Netlabels scene & Creative Commons Licenses.
4. How much time do you spend on running your netlabel?
Hours, days … many days so far.
5. Have there been any projects (ie netlabel related, but not necessarily about a release, like maybe you set up a concert / festival / etc.) that are especially memorable to you?
Two years ago we have organized a conference of some Italian netlabels. In the future we would like to organize a La bèl party with our friends musicians.
6. Is there a long-term goal for your label?
We would like to known our music to all the world.
7. Are you involved in anything else other than producing music? (IE, videos, CD’s, wallpapers, t-shirts, etc.)
For some of our releases we have created an handmade limited edition CD. Many friends musicians and collaborators create exceptional promotional video for their release.
8. Any cool stories about projects / releases? (IE, they got used in someone else’s movie / video, or something similar.)
Some of our tracks are used for professional and amateur video. This is an example: Elisa Luu – 22 Marz
9. What is your take on the future of music? (IE, do you think streaming will be more important than downloads, do you think the major labels will go bankrupt, do you think more people are turning to netlabels than traditional music sources, etc.)
I think that streaming is the future but netlabels continue to perform the difficult task of filtering the countless amount of music that runs the web.
10. Any upcoming projects / releases / events you would like to mention?
During the Netlabel Day we’ll celebrate our fifth birthday and our thirtieth release! We are preparing a fantastic compilation to celebrate this event!
