EXCERPT
(Cecilia found her father's journal and a message is revealed.)
She stared at the book and wondered what she should do with it. Should she give it to her mother?
She fixed the floorboard, and then stood to put the last guitar in its place. She took the journal with her and stepped out of the closet and closed the door behind her. She glanced at the book in her hand. She'd be lying if she weren't just a tad curious to know what her father had written. Maybe after she read it and made sure there wasn't anything in it that would upset her mother, she'd give it to her. God knew her mother didn't need anything else to obsess about in regards to her father.
She placed the journal on the desk but as she turned a loud slap against the wood floor had her whirling around with a gasp. She found the journal had fallen and lay at her feet, opened to a page where a slip of paper rested within the crease. She leaned down and reached for the note and unfolded it. The first lines jumped out at her, making her feel dizzy and a little queasy as if she'd indulged in her mother's stash. She stood and read the lines again.
I don't fear the reaper. It's the humans with death in their eyes that scare me shitless. If you're reading this, death found me when my back was turned.

This book captured my attention at the start. It’s an upbeat paranormal mystery/ghost story that flows smoothly and finishes with a gratifying feel-good ending. Cecilia is determined to create a life for herself out from under the shadow of her famous rock star parents. When her dead father first appears, CeCe wonders if she is losing her mind, but Lars soon convinces her that he has some unfinished business and needs her help to set the record straight.
I loved the often humorous back and forth banter between Cecilia and Lars. The dialog kept the tone of the story more light-hearted than expected. Through a series of short flashbacks, the author skillfully unveils the sad and tragic events of the past. Woven throughout the book these short glimpses of personal history slowly reveal the truth of that fateful, rainy night 23 years earlier when Lars met his end.
I enjoyed this book and believe that anyone who likes paranormal mysteries with a bit of light romance will also delight in reading this story. Reviewed by Laurie-JAUTHOR Bio and Links:
