Encouraging News for Mary Landrieu - Be Sure to Vote on Tuesday

By Billlives

We have been knocking on doors for Mary Landrieu in the Pigeon Town and Central City neighborhoods in New Orleans. Yesterday we were in Central City where the uptown Mardi Gras Indians operate. As we canvassed in Central City the Indians were practicing in Shakespeare Park across the street. Their songs carried over the neighborhood providing a backdrop to our conversations. As in Pigeon Town, people in Central City were very committed to voting. They understood how important it was for them that Mary Landrieu wins. There was the same feeling as the Obama elections. I hear about low turnout in midterms but our small sample says that the voter turn out is getting under estimated. I hope that is the case in all these close races across the South and the rest of our nation. So be sure to vote to add to the numbers. Today we go to the area on the lake side of Claiborne near Tulane.

After canvassing we went to a rally for Mary Landrieu. Many of the local Democrats spoke. Hillary was there and gave a great speech. I was impressed with her as a speaker. Mary’s opponent acts like he is running against Obama and one of the only positions he has taken on issues is to raise the retirement age for Social Security to 70 especially hurting a lot of people who do physical labor. We had a very large Mary Landrieu sign on our fence. Some fool pulled down our sign and put broken glass on our driveway. It made us only more determined to do canvassing. We also got a new sign. Below is how we carried them both home.
