Ellana Minerals Loose Powder Foundation | Hazelnut Latte

By Genzelkisses

As I get a lot of requests to do my review on this product which was included in my The Happy List – January post, I did my best to post it soon!  That’s how much I love you guys!  Thanks for the undying feedback.  I’ve been honestly using this product since mid 2008 – 2009.  Not as in regularly though, because I get to try other products too but it’s always in my makeup kit.  Now let me show you why.

I wasn’t a blogger yet when I first tried Ellana.  It’s the brand where I experimented with different shades, what products to use, and all that.  My original shade was Chai Tea Latte which looks okay for me.  Now I’m using Hazelnut Latte, that is the perfect shade for my skintone.  The packaging was changed and new products were announced during their Relaunch event.

Hazelnut Latte Intensive Blend

From their website:

“Our best-selling foundation is loved by all for its long-wearing, medium to heavy coverage. It has a silky matte finish that can downplay redness from acne, blemishes, fine lines, and pores in one sweep! This foundation is buildable and has a velvety texture to make it easier for you to achieve a flawless finish.”

True to its claim, this powder foundation gives:

✔ silky matte finish

✔ buildable coverage (from light to heavy)

✔ velvety texture

✔ makes you look effortlessly flawless

Blending is not a problem with this.  Some people stay away from powder foundation because they are having a hard time to blend it seamlessly into the skin.  Well, it won’t be a problem with this product.  It’s very easy to blend using a kabuki brush.

The brushes I’ve tried to use for applying Ellana loose powder foundation:

Ellana Flat-top kabuki brush

Sigma Powder Brush

Real Techniques Buffing Brush

Ellana Mini Kabuki Brush (not on the photo, I can’t find it during this shoot for some reason)

Read my amateur review here.

My favorite brush for this foundation would be the baby buki brush.  For days when it’s hiding from me, I use RT buffing brush.  I know it’s a buffing brush but it gets enough product and apply the powder foundation amazingly on my skin.  If you don’t have the brushes mentioned above, you can try any brush as long as it’s dense and compact.

Everyone has been asking if I can really skip the concealer with this foundation.  Here I posted a number of my face shots for you to see and judge.  If you’ve seen my bare face in my previous posts, I have severe broken capillaries on both cheeks, super visible pores on my nose and cheeks, and I also have kinda panda eye bags. LOL.  I just used Ellana Mineral Primer underneath. (I’ll review that soon).

Here’s a close up and unedited photo.  Can you spot my varicose veins and pores on my cheeks and my eye bags?

:D

They are gone, miraculously!

I guess you now know the reason why I keep on using this product for years.  It’s a must have plus, it’s a mineral makeup!

I’m also in love not only with the quality of the product that you get but also with its new packaging.  It’s really feminine and the glass jar has upgraded as well.  Other details about the product can be found at the bottom.  It’s also sturdy.  I remember, I accidently dropped it on a tiled floor twice and my heart skipped a beat!

SUMMARY

LOVE

♥  Mineral makeup – I’m a huge fan of anything mineral or organic

♥  Affordable considering it’s a mineral makeup.  Most mineral makeups are expensive.

♥  Adorable packaging

♥  Silky and Flawless finish

♥  I didn’t experience any allergic reactions

♥  Buildable coverage – no need for concealer (in my case at least).

♥  Pinoy Brand but they ship internationally.

CONCERN

✿  Since it’s a loose powder, it can be messy and not travel friendly, that’s where their pressed products come in (will talk about it soon too!).

✿  If you are extremely oily, you can use blotting sheets for your T-zone.  I have combination to oily skin and I notice oil on my T-zone after 3-4 hours (please consider the weather in our country).

✿  Available online but they are expanding and will be in a number of malls soon.  You can also visit their showroom in Makati.

TIP/s and RECOMMENDATION

☑  Use a primer prior to foundation most especially if you are oily or acidic.

☑  Blotting sheets or oil films to the rescue!

☑  Use a dense, soft, and compact makeup brush or a sponge.

☑  Tap on the cover of the jar little amount of powder and apply more as desired.

REPURCHASE?

Yes.  I’ve been repurchasing this for more than 5 years.

OVERALL

4andhalfkisses

Some of you may ask, why 4 only if you really love it?  I weigh my ratings on Love and Concerns categories.  This is a perfect foundation for me but I have traveling issues with this which is usual with any loose powder product.

WHERE TO BUY?

You can buy it online here.
