Eliza Gilkyson is like a great wine - she ages really well. With her blend of country, Americana and rock, she is regarded highly among her peers for her musicianship and her lyrics, most of them political and outspoken.

Her new album Roses at the End of Time deals with the financial crisis (Slouching Towards Bethlehem, the collapse of natural resources (Looking for a Place), religious bigotry (2153) and the loneliness of a Southern damsel in distress (Belle of the Bal).

Aided by people like John Gorka and Lucy Kaplansky, with whom she recorded the Red Horse album last year, Gilkyson has uncorked yet another great bottle from her cellar of music. Roses at the End of Time is a roots record with a long shelf life. Enjoy responsibly.
