Watch out! Elder Island are taking over with sultry, smooth, intricate pop. Much like a lighter version of Little Dragon’s newest sound, the Bristol 3-piece has been making a name for themselves internationally since the release of their first clap-along single “What It’s Worth.” Their second single, “Big Unkown”, follows in the initial track’s finely-crafted footsteps with an added deliciously-funky backdrop. Every note is intentional in this sexy, minimalist song that flows lusciously through all five minutes, thanks to inventive uses of electronic production. Echoing in on the dark, soulful whispers lead singer, Katy Sargent, the track is anchored by a constant alternating flow of a marimba riff doused in production and a seriously funky guitar lick. Stacked male and female vocals “peel the layers back” to “feel you right on track” as a bass and some soft guitar keep the chord progression moving along.
