Eco-Trek’s Sixth Edition Takes Us to New Orleans and TexasPresented by German actress Anita Anthonj, the weekly green news magazine is making its way around the world in fuel cell vehicles reporting on green projects and news. On this week’s episode, Eco-Trek explores innovative ways New Orleans is rebuilding itself post Katrina and visits the car2go project, the first of its kind in the US.

Brad Pitt has made a big sustainable impact on New Orleans, Lower 9th Ward. His “Make it Right” Foundation commissioned award-winning Morphosis Architects to design a Floating House that can withstand Hurricane Katrina-like conditions.
 
The Green Project
In a city that was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina, The Green Project operates a building supply warehouse, lumberyard, paint recycling center as well as an electronic recycling drop-off center that encourages sustainability in the New Orleans rebuilding process.
 
The Sol Design Lab Solar Pump Charging Station
Beth Ferguson, an ecological designer, and social entrepreneur is committed to the shift in urban mobility from oil, coal, and gas to a more sustainable solution so she created the SolarPump Charging Station which is designed to charge electric bicycles, scooters, laptops, cell phones or ipods, while providing LED lighting and public seating.
  
smart’s Car2Go Programm
Car2Go is the first car-sharing program in the US that allows members to get into any smart that is part of the program and drive wherever they need to go. Members have an electronic key and without time consuming bureaucracy, the cars are readily available.
