Easy Breezy Summertime Looks

Easy Breezy Summertime Looks

Mid-Atlantic states are notoriously known for their humid weather in the summer. They rival the swamplands of Florida. The saying, "it's not the heat, it's the humidity" is true, ask any New Yorker, like myself.

When it is this hot and humid nobody wants clothing to stick to their body. It just feels way too gross to have anything clinging to the skin when you feel like you have to swim through the thick air. It starts to make sense why people in the Middle East are often seen wearing breathable kaftans and loose clothing.

Easy Breezy Summertime Looks

If you are sweltering through the dog days of summer and want to create some summertime looks that cling less and breathe more, I put together some easy breeze outfits that are relaxed and fit loosely. They're designed to move without making you look like a big shapeless box. Check out the outfits and shop for more pieces at the end of the post.

Outfit #1

Normally, I don't style a relaxed top with a wide leg pair of pants. It's usually just too much shapeless drape happening all at once. However, one walk around the block on the humid-est of days can change my mind quickly. What I did to mitigate the amount of ease in the look of these floral pants from Nordstrom and Caslon top was I added a slight heel with these red wedges from Nine West. I finished the outfit with an olive bag from Vasic, bracelet from Chico's and sunglasses from Le Specs.

Next, this dress from Vince that manages to look chic while being easy. This can be a very hard combination to come by. Often dresses lacking in a lot of shape look like house frocks. I finished this dress with a pair of tan slip ons, Tory Burch crossbody, summer hat from Bp. sunglasses from Ray-Ban and hoop earrings from Rebecca Minkoff.

I styled this last look using an asymmetric linen tunic and pair of wide leg crop pants, both from Eileen Fisher. This type of look certainly won't make you feel particularly tall, but it will keep you feeling cool, which is often priority #1 on hot, humid days. The wedge also helps add to the height that has been lost. I added this navy pair from Splendid and finished the outfit with a silver necklace and handbag from Boden.
