As a last minute craft, I decided to make an Easter hair clip. And since she loves bunnies at Easter, we settled on a bunny hair clip. With of course felt. My favorite material!
So let's make one! Here's what you need: white and pink felthair clipsembroidery thread (in white, pink, and black) and needlehot glue gun
To create the bunny, start with a sketch. If you're no good at drawing, I'll help you out. (I'm no pro either!!)
Start off with an oval for the head. Then add two smaller ovals on top for the ears.
When you're happy with it, go over it with a black marker and cut it out.
Now you can trace it onto your felt. I just used a pencil.
You'll need two bunny heads, so I did it the easy way a folded the felt under and pinned. Then cut them out.
Now get your white embroidery thread and needle and thread your needle.
Start from the inside so your knotted end is inside the two layers and stitch the two bunny heads together. If you want to stitch the face first before stitching the two heads together, that's fine. Either way, you won't see the threads in the back once glued to the clip.
Before stitching the face, you may want to mark out each feature, I just did this with a pencil.
Get the black embroidery thread and sew on eyes with a satin stitch.
Do the same with the pink thread to make the nose.
You can now move on to the clip. Trace your clip onto the pink felt like so.
You'll need two pieces to sandwich the clip with.
Lay your clip on your felt piece and mark out where the bottom opens up (with the clip in open position).
Cut with a scissor or exacto knife, then insert the bottom of the clip.
With the pink thread, you can now stitch around the perimeter of the clip, sandwiching the felt pieces together.
Once again, you can start between the two pieces to hide your knotted end.
This is what the back will look like once you're done.
Now you can hot glue your bunny onto the clip.
And you're done!
You now have a cute Easter accessory.
