There is a way to make money online without selling a product, selling a service or even knowing what you want to write about.
Writing product reviews is the best way for someone starting out with their online business to make money. It teaches you how to run a business as well as sell something without the pressure of needing to get inventory out the door.
I made my first money online with Amazon reviews. So, if you are just like me starting out, this article is for you.
What to write about?
Pick a niche. This could be anything from gadgets to sunglasses. Review all the top selling products in that niche. Sunglasses is a good choice as fashion continually changes and you’ll always have new products to review.
These reviews can be in any form, from videos on YouTube, your own podcast or even social media posts.
Do they work?
When I was starting out, I was plagued by the question of whether anyone would care what a complete beginner thought. I found out they were.
People want an outside opinion. They want to be able to justify their choice. Beginners are the complete outsider and people may listen to you because you have no history. You’ve got the perception of honesty.
Reviews Attract Traffic
Product reviews bring more people to your site. People are looking for information on a product before they buy it, they’re already I a ‘buyer mood’ and are open to listening to recommendations. They are more likely to click your affiliate links – the way you make money out of reviews.
Reviews bring in the type of people ready to spend money, giving you a better chance of making sales and boosting your site all at the same time.
How Do You Make Money?
I touched on it a little earlier but you make money with affiliate links. Create an Amazon Associates account and use your reviews to post affiliate links back to the product page on Amazon. You will get a commission every time someone clicks one of your links and buys a product.
Reviews Help Companies
Product reviews are great as well because you succeed when a company succeeds. By recommending their product, something they can’t do, you are helping them. There will always be a place, and traffic, for reviewers.
Reviews Help The Customer
Reviews give shopper valuable information. You are helping them decide on a product without having to do all the research themselves. You are saving the time. You are also saving them money by making sure they get the product they want first time. They avoid products the don’t want and you both prosper.
Any Doubts?
Don’t feel bad writing reviews – as long as they are honest and informative. I struggled with the questions of whether reviews were worthwhile or not. But they are worthwhile – as anyone who has used reviews to decide on a product can tell you.
