E-Design: Living Room Update

By Homewithbaxter @homewithbaxter
I had the pleasure of working on a Decor To-Go project for an e-design client who wanted to give her dated living room a modern update.  To stay budget conscious, she wanted to incorporate her existing sofas into the design. She also gave me the added challenge of working around some beautiful antiques that have been in her husband's family.
She loved the look of this Trellis rug from West Elm (no longer available) and wanted to use grays, blues, and golds in the room.

I found a similar rug at RugsUSA on sale for 50% off that worked into her budget.

Using this rug as a starting point, I picked out new paint colors, pillows, accessories, lamps, and a new mirror.  I also selected fabric for her to reupholster a rocking chair and make a throw pillow.

She has beautiful built-ins along one entire wall of her living room.  To make them more of a feature, I suggested she paint the back a deep blue/gray. Baskets provide texture and hidden storage.
