Drool Worthy Design (Tobi Tobin)

I was thumbing through the latest issue of House Beautiful and I noticed a couple of familiar spaces.  One was this photo of a foyer with grasscloth wallpaper and beautiful black door.

The other was this photo of a staircase with seagrass runner with black trim and wall of mirrors.

I had recently repinned each of these photos as inspiration for my own foyer and staircase.  I'm itching to change the current dark gray paint to something lighter and brighter.  With our new gray floors, and painted black doors, it's all a little dark and meh. I've been thinking about using grasscloth wallpaper for the foyer and a shade of beige or cream paint for the stairway.  I also want to add a runner on the stairs. We had the treads refinished and I painted the risers white, but the scuff marks are already pretty bad.  Plus, the dogs are always sliding down the stairs so it will make it a little easier for them.
What I like about these photos is the contrast of black and white and that the spaces still feel light and airy.  I also like the use of natural materials (seagrass and grasscloth) to give the space warmth, but they aren't overdone.  The spaces don't feel too "rustic" but rather comfortable AND elegant (which is hard to do).
When I pinned these images, I had no idea they were from the same designer, Tobi Tobin, or that they were images from her Holywood farmhouse.  When I saw the feature in House Beautiful, I oohed and awed at the rest of the rooms in her house.
Here are a few of my other favorites:
Black valances with bamboo shades.  The wallpaper!  The bed! I love it all.

Here she uses three (very) different chairs around a small breakfast table, but they look like they're meant to go together. Love the chandelier and bamboo shades. Can you believe the shades are from Target??

Rustic table with white slipcovered chairs, seagrass rug, and beautiful chandelier again!  LOVE.

So, what's your take?  Do you love black and white or would you die without a little color?  How do you feel about using natural elements in a space.  Love or not your thing?
