Drones not accurate enough
As we are grateful for the work accomplished by our drone technology, there remain some nagging problems.
On any given news day, we might hear of a drone strike that has killed this or that terrorist leader. It often happens in places where the jihadist felt safe, like a nondescript office or a small family gathering. The problem we are unable to fix is that all too often innocent people are too close when hellfire rains down from above.
Who can justify the loss of good people in the pursuit of the wicked? I know the equations leaders must balance are enough to ravage the soul.
To that end, I propose a new directive in our drone wars:
Only use a drone to strike a terrorist leader when he is at least 100 meters away from bystanders, and at most, accompanied only by those who are in complicity with his actions.
