Dream Dots – Goodbye To Spots! Review

Waking up with a spot is a surefire way to ruin anyone’s day, so like the majority of women worldwide, I am always on the hunt for anything that will zap blemishes easily and more importantly – quickly. I’d seen a lot about Irish company Dream Dots from my fellow Irish beauty bloggers on Facebook and Twitter so I was jumped on the chance to review it for myself!

Well what are they? According to their website ‘A Dream Dot isn’t simply a sticker — it’s a unique super absorbent cross-linked hydro matrix patch.‘  Basically they’re tiny skinny clear waterproof discs with an adhesive side containing a gel that when applied over your blemish and left overnight should create an environment that will hopefully help your blemish heal by reducing that angry redness and inflammation. They work by acting like a second skin and creating a moist healing environment by maintaining the ideal pH balance, temperature and hydration levels to allow the blemish to heal itself overnight without any outside irritants. While you sleep the little patch will swell up and turn white because it absorbs the badness excreted from the blemish, so when you remove the patch in the morning there should be a visible reduction in redness and size!

You apply the Dream Dot onto clean, dry skin and leave it on overnight so it has at least 6-10 hours to work it’s magic. Or if you don’t plan to leave the house you could wear one during the day, just be prepared to get some funny looks if you forget and answer the door or go to the shop… To be fair they are pretty much invisible at night, just in the harsh light of day you can see them a bit clearer.

How did I find them? Well going by the rave reviews I’d read I was half-expecting to pop it on and wake up to a magically clear face… slightly unrealistic I know but I was just really optimistic. They definitely work, just not as quickly as I’d like. However I really like the fact you can just pop them on overnight and let them work away while you visit the land of nod. When you take the patch off there’s some white gunk in there that’s pretty gross but I found that meant it was working, after the first night the blemish was definitely reduced and slightly less red. It was still visible just not as awful. Similarly the second night reduced the inflammation further and depending how large the blemish was it was nearly gone after two nights and definitely gone by the third – with no scarring which is something I’m always worried about! I’ve read people finding that their skin was left with a mark of the circle edge from the Dream Dot like the outline you get from a plaster, but I didn’t get this at all. You do have to carefully cleanse off the sticky residue the next morning or else it’ll stay there all day and mess up your makeup plus any bacteria there undo any good you’ve just done.

Considering if I get a blemish, sometimes it can last for nearly a week – I am a fan of these little guys. Even using a spot treatment like Effaclar Duo+ etc, while you sleep you’re face is rubbing off your face/pillow/significant other and you’re irritating it further, so I think the fact these guys work by sealing the blemish off in it’s own little bubble to protect it while it works is great. Not an immediate cure but a pretty good treatment, but the search for the ultimate spot-buster continues.

I live for the day when they develop something that will zap a spot straightaway, and also for the day when they develop a pill that cures hangovers immediately. Come on science, sort it out.

A pack of twenty-four dots costs €14.95 and the larger pack of forty-eight will set you back €24.95. You can buy them over on their website and some pharmacies nationwide like McCabes etc.

Have you tried these out? What did you think!
