While modern societies face growing concern about global environmental issues, developing countries are experiencing complex, serious and fast-growing pollution problems of their own. It is well known that exposure to high levels of air pollution can adversely affect human health. However, adverse health effects of exposure to relatively low level of air pollution remain a public concern, motivated largely by a number of recent epidemiological studies that have shown the positive associations between air pollution and health outcomes using sophisticated time-series and other designs.
Air pollution affects human health and is the cause of around three million deaths per year. Air pollution is defined as the emission of particulate toxic elements into the atmosphere by natural or anthropocentric sources . These sources can be further differentiated into either mobile or stationary sources .Air pollution commenced with human's systematic use of fire. Its historical development has been characterized by steadily increasing amounts of total emissions, the invention of new sources of pollution emission as well as the emission of pollutants that had not formerly been emitted by man-made sources. Due to constantly rising air pollution levels as well as an increasing awareness of the hazardousness of air pollutants, new laws and rules have recently been passed. Pollution is a concept whose proper understanding requires the understanding of many other related concepts. While studying about pollution, we are going to deal with a number of terms related to chemistry. Different gases, minerals and compounds will form an active part of our discussion about pollution.
The carbon monoxide (CO) has a significant effect on fetal health even at the relatively low levels of pollution experienced in New Delhi in recent years, and that it has further effects on infant mortality conditional on measures of health at birth. Protecting human health of communities and promoting the well-being of individuals are common concerns and aspirations of researchers, practitioners, policy makers and general population. Common efforts towards the assessment of environment impacts on human health, namely regarding air pollution, have been done during the last decades. Road traffic, industrial activities and fossil fuels used on energy and house heating represent the most important sources of air pollutants, especially in urban areas. Hence, natural events as mineral dust transported from deserts and forest fires contribute significantly to the quality of the air in India.

Environmental pollution is classified into various groups. For instance, pollution of air is termed as the atmospheric pollution, the pollution of hydrosphere or water is termed as water pollution, while pollution due to disposal of waste water is termed as industrial effluents pollution. Similarly, indiscriminate dispersal of domestic sewage is called domestic effluent pollution. In addition to these major sources of pollution we have pollution of lithosphere or land, called soil pollution.

There are simple steps you can take in your everyday life to help improve air quality. Every time you drive to work or school, use your heater or air conditioner, clean your windows or even style your hair, you make choices that can reduce of increase air pollution. The Basic Law for Environmental Pollution Control was enacted to provide a proper basis for environmental pollution policy and for the development of other regulations and initiatives. Similarly, the Environment Agency was established to promote unified and coordinate policy initiatives, along with environmental pollution bureaus at the local government level. Reducing environmental pollution requires specialized research, firstly to identify the types of pollution and how they are being generated, and secondly to identify the most effective method for dealing with them. As we learn more about the harmful effects of toxic chemicals on our health and our environment, more and more people are organizing to prevent harm and to find healthier and more sustainable ways of producing things. There are many kinds of pollution. But People are the major cause of pollution. We pollute the air with our cars, homes, and factories. We pollute the water by dumping garbage and chemicals in the water.
We pollute the soil with chemicals and garbage. We harm the land by cutting down trees in the forest, especially to build roads and new houses without careful planning and thinking. So it's time to take some serious steps to Save our nature.प्रकृति का न करे हरण आओ बचाएँ पर्यावरण
Nature does not come dispossession SAVE environment
When purchasing a new car, consider one that is the most efficient, lowest-polluting vehicle or even a zero-emission electric car. Recycle paper, plastic, metals and organic materials. Microwave or use toaster for small meals. Choose products that use recycled materials. Explore "green" outdoor activities including camping, biking, hiking, paddling, running, climbing, and electric boating, Carpool, Telecommute, Start a recycling program, Print and photocopy on both sides of paper.
Use buses and trains instead of cars, as they can carry a lot more people in one journey. This cuts down the amount of pollution produced. Walking or cycling whenever you can will be even better, as it does not create any pollution. It will also be good for your body, as regular exercise will keep you fit and healthy.
If your parents, friends must use the car, ask them to avoid using it for very short journeys if possible, as this creates unnecessary pollution. Try to encourage them to share their journeys with other people, for example when they go to work or go shopping. Also encourage them to drive more slowly as this produces less pollution and less carbon dioxide.
We can also help prevent pollution from our own homes which may contribute to acid rain and poor air quality, and increases emissions of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Turning off lights when they are not needed and not wasting electricity will reduce the demand for energy. Less electricity will need to be produced and so less coal, oil and gas will have to be burnt in power stations, which means less air pollution and less carbon dioxide!
Pollution formed indoors can be reduced by ensuring that all gas appliances are working correctly. Good ventilation will improve indoor air quality by dispersing biological pollutants like dust mite, and other pollutants such as cigarette smoke.
