Dominic Megam Sangma has just finished his first feature film titled MA*AMA, which was presented in NFDC Film Bazaar, Work in Progress Lab 2017, the film is Indo- China production.
He is a graduate from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, India. He worked in National Film and Development Corporation Ltd, for two years before he opened his own Production Company called ANNA FILMS. He also teaches Direction and Script Writing at Film and Television Institute, Itanagar, India.
He was in a preview committee for International Film Festival of India 2017 and also in a selection committee for 2nd Guwahati International Film Festival. He had directed numbers of short films and documentaries and his films had competed in many international film festival. His Diploma film titled Rong*kuchak (Echoes) won National Student Film Award for best short film in 2014, and it also won Special mentioned in Ca' Foscari Short Film Festival, Venice 2015.
SYNOPSIS:
Philip (85) lives everyday for 30 years in hope that one day he will be reunited with his wife in afterlife. But his yearning is jeopardize by the dream he had about her- in which he searches for her among the crowd of women in a barren landscape but he could not recognize his wife's face no matter how much he struggled. Tormented by the doubt whether dead people too grow old like us. Or will their appearance change with time? He puts all effort to ensure his reunion with his wife and to do whatever it takes to retain the fading memories of his wife's face from his mind.
But this quest of Philip demands him to face the things that he had avoided for thirty years and at this stage it's no more a choice but the only gate to open and walk through it.

DIRECTOR's STATEMENT
This is very personal film, based on the true experiences of my father. It took me more than five years to prepare myself to write this script, which involves intimate conversation with my father about his past, which led me to delve into his painful memories. His wife and my mother passed away 25 years back, I was only two and
half year old and I have no personal memories about her, all my memories are inherited from my siblings. The film germinates from the very fact of my quest to know who my mother was and what really happened to her, which none of my siblings are ready to open up for me. Though my father remarries he misses my mother very much and the void that she left behind couldn't be fill. The film is the quest of both father and son to fill that gap.
I also made sure that everybody plays their own role in the film. My father himself plays the main character in the film. All our family member acted in the film as themselves. The villager came together to help me during the shoot.
