DAVIE, Fla. – Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Randy Starks is glad he saw two Steelers linemen when he fought his way up from the bottom of the pile Sunday in Pittsburgh.
If he’d seen one, Starks would have assumed that was the guy who’d been messing with his, um, private parts while Starks was hanging onto the ball after a Ben Roethlisberger fumble.

“I heard of stuff like that happening. It’s the first time it happened to me,” Starks said Tuesday. “If I knew exactly who it was at the time, I probably would have got thrown out.”
It happened early in the second quarter with the Steelers leading the Dolphins 7-3. Cameron Wake stripped Roethlisberger, who was trying to pass, and Starks was the first man to dive on the ball.
CBS TV cameras caught Steelers center Cody Wallace, in an apparent attempt to make Starks let go, jamming his left hand under Starks’ rear end hard enough that Starks began struggling.
“I jumped up – as much as I could, because the pile was on top of me,” said Starks, who managed to shove Wallace off him and also saw Steelers guard Ramon Foster once he flipped over.
Starks said he saw the replay on the plane ride home and has been hearing jokes from teammates about the result of his prostate exam since.
Asked if Wallace could face discipline, an NFL spokesman said all plays are reviewed each week under normal procedures and had no further comment.
Starks was right not to retaliate. The Dolphins got the ball and drove 31 yards in five plays for a go-ahead touchdown and went on to a 34-28 win, boosting their AFC wild-card push.
“It’s tough not to react,” Starks said. “I’m sure I would’ve did something and I would’ve got thrown out and then they would have understood. But I’m just glad I didn’t know who it was, because it might have got kind of ugly out there.”
