All I seem to hear on cable news these days is how younger voters won't support an older candidate for president. Is that true? Not if this poll is correct.
The chart above reflects the results of the latest Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics Survey -- done between March 8th and 20th of a national sample of voters aged 18 to 29, with a margin of error of 4.5 points.
The young people were asked who they would vote for if the primary was held now. About 51% of Democrats and Independents combined (and 52% of Democrats) said they would vote for a candidate over 70 years old. Both groups gave Bernie Sanders the edge with 31% support, while Democrats gave Biden 21% and the combined group gave him 20%.
It seems that while young voters prefer Sanders and older voters prefer Biden, both groups don't seem to care much about age. I think both are trying to do one thing -- back a candidate that they believe can beat Donald Trump. That's a good sign, because beating Trump is the most important thing.
