Do You Know the Source of Father's Day?

Posted on the 18 June 2017 by Morage @kebmebms

A woman, Sonora Smart Dodd came up with the idea of a Father's Day and celebrating fathers. It was  in 1910 out in what was then the far, rather undeveloped West in Spokane, Washington.

She began the idea in 1910. The first national recognition of it was by President Woodrow Wilson but few other Presidents after him followed his lead.  It wasn't actually made national and official until 1966 by Lyndon Johnson. It was made the third Sunday of June, following Mother's Day, of course. It wasn't, still, a permanent national day until 1972 with then President Richard Nixon.
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. It's your day. Enjoy.
