You can witness this so much in daily life that it hardly needs mentioning.
What is it?
People who, in a disagreement, will defend their position, no matter how many other problems it causes.
Being right is what is most important to these people, and forget everything else.
It could mean going to jail, destroying relationships or even give up one's livelihood.
It is written in this post because it happens so frequently in modern society. But is it the wisest choice?
The other option, of course, is to maintain the peace, even if you think you are right. Not saying anything is sometimes the wisest choice, if you think about it.
How many times have you regretted what you said in a situation, later thinking you really did not mean it like it came out? Most people probably have.
So, as these posts do, let's look at Scripture for some advice, since this is a common human dilemma faced by many people every day.

2. Pride going before destruction ( Proverbs 16:18
3. I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze. (Leviticus 26:19)
4. Would they argue with useless words, with speeches that have no value? (Job 15:3)
It sounds like God is not very fond of this principles of the ego.
In fact, the most shining of God's angels at one time, Lucifer, eventually became Satan. Pride comes before the fall.
The opposite of protecting your ego is humility, which is what the Bible advocates.
What are some Bible verses that discuss humility, which is the opposite of pride, or ego?
- Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2)
- Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. (Philippians 2:3)
- Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. (Romans 12:16)
By nature, humans are likely inclined to the first one, or protecting the ego.
Any human likely does this to some extent. (If you are honest, have you?) In other words, being right is the most important thing. What you could learn is not important, as well as how you make someone else feel.
On the other hand is humility. You might realize you could be wrong in this scenario, but that takes a back seat to keeping the peace overall. It might not be worth it to assert yourself, if you consider everything.
It has been asserted in this post that God prefers humility. Of course, this can be difficult to do.
