Since the release of their triumphant self-titled album in 2012, the British art-rock band Django Django hasn’t given fans any new material — that is until just recently. “First Light” is the band’s fresh new single from their not yet announced, but very much anticipated new album. Sinking your teeth into this newest track you get the taste of a well-seasoned mix of ‘60s psychedelic funk and ‘80s synth pop, with no cringing aftertaste. The seamless marriage of genres is something only a group like Django Django could pull-off, and although “First Light” comes with an added twist of crisp and eclectic sounds, it’s safe to say the up-tempo drumming and flowing harmonies we’ve come to love are still present. It’s hard to tell when their sophomore album will be released, but “First Light” is an exciting start to what will surely be a promising return for the band.
