As you may know I recently got married. That means lots of Thank You cards and gifts for people who worked so hard to make the big day special. I had a shower back home with 9 hostesses…that’s a lot of people to buy gifts for and stay on a budget. I decided to make DIY Tile Coasters. They are creative, easy, and most importantly budget friendly.
Things you will need:
- Ribbon
- Mod Podge (the glue and the transparent sealant)
- Scrapbook paper (I bought 2 pieces of paper per set of coasters, which is 4 tiles)
- Paper cutter or scissors
- Tiles (I bought mine from Lowes; 48 tiles for $6 total!)
- Ruler and pencil
I had so much fun picking out the scrapbook paper from Michaels.
I measured and cut the paper to the exact size of the tile. My new paper cutter made this project such a breeze!! Place a generous amount of Mod Podge on the tile, place the paper down and smooth out, ensuring to smooth out any air bubbles. Paint on a layer of Mod Podge on top of the paper. Once the Mod Podge glue dries, I sprayed the tiles with this transparent sealer. I let it dry between each layer and sprayed on about 3-4 layers just to ensure a wet glass doesn’t stick or ruin the paper.
I love how they turned out. Each hostess got a set of 4 coasters. I stacked them and wrapped them with the white grosgrain ribbon (which I forgot to take a picture of, likely due to 1,000,000 other wedding details in my brain). I also gave each hostess a homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub made from coconut oil, sugar, peppermint oil, and a tiny bit of green food coloring in a jar with a cute chalk label.
