Sometimes your face just needs come good ole', natural TLC, and this is where this DIY lavender facial cleanser comes in to save the day. Lavender is my go-to scent for everything – lotion, dish soap, fabric softeners, etc – so I decided I needed something lavender to put on my face. This lavender facial cleanser has three pure ingredients that you may already have on hand, or can easily find at a local health food store.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon dried lavender
3-4 drops of tea tree oil
1/2 cup distilled water
Directions:
1. Bring 1/2 cup of distilled water to a boil. Put the dried lavender leaves in a small bowl, and pour the water over the lavender to let it steep. This is the best way to bring out the good stuff in the lavender! Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
2. Remove the lavender buds with a spoon or strain it with a sieve. Pour the lavender water into a small sealed container. I simply used an old foundation bottle, which, by the way, was so incredibly difficult to get clean from the oil in the foundation that I am now reconsidering wearing that stuff (yuck!). Seriously, it took me longer to clean that bottle than to make this facial cleanser, but that's beside the point. Moving on!
3. Allow the lavender water to cool in the bottle, then add 3-4 drops of tea tree oil and shake. The tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and helps keep skin clear and bright. I've been using it to zap pimples and acne for years now and it is one of my best beauty tricks.
4. Dab a small amount of your lavender facial cleanser a cotton ball or pad and clean in the morning and night, or as needed. Enjoy having a fresh, clean and lovely smelling face!
