Today’s DIY comes courtesy of Jacqueline Tottman, a merchandising/marketing for fashion student at VCAD in Vancouver! While cleaning out her desk, she found a small bag of coins, accumulated from trips around the world. Inspired by a necklace spotted at Stella & Dot, these mementos made the perfect summer statement necklace.

Supplies:

-coins
-chains (bought at Michael’s)
-jewellery rings
-pliers
-hammer and nail/screw
-drill

1. Select the coins you want to feature and make a small mark at the top using a screw or nail and a hammer.

2. Using a drill, make a hole in the coin where previously marked. If the edges around the hole are jagged, use a bit of sandpaper to smooth them out.

3. Once you’ve finished making the holes, layout the coins in the order you want them to hang.

4. Use the pliers and jewelry rings to attach the coins through the chain links. Using a single link for each will ensure the coins stay in place.

And that’s it! By using coins from your travels, you can carry a little piece of adventure everywhere you go.

This could easily be done as a charm bracelet, just use a shorter chain.

Hope you enjoyed today’s DIY, thanks Jacqueline!
