This past Saturday, Disney celebrated the grand opening of their newly-designed store at Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, CA. Del Amo Fashion Center is one of several Disney Stores to open across North America in 2014, offering interactive and magical experiences for Disney fans of all ages. As I have mentioned in a previous post, I love everything Disney, and I was excited to not only be invited, but to be able to share this wonderful experience with my beautiful niece, MK.
As soon as we were approaching the store, we could hear The Lion King music playing, which made MK so excited and she began to run toward the store. The lines were super long and were divided into three sections; in front of the store, on the side of the store and behind the store. However, I do believe time went by quickly for people because the cast members were playing trivia and passing out stickers.
Let me start off by saying that everyone was in the best mood ever. So eager to help, welcoming and caring. It felt like you were in Disneyland. Magical! Furthermore, the merchandise displays were well-organized. I couldn’t find a specific size shirt for MK, so one of the store associates checked the back. Instead of having me wait for her, she told me to continue shopping and she would look for me, which she did! It also helped because MK was all over the place exploring.
There was a lot of details, such as the wall art, the princess castle and the theater section. MK could not get enough of the theater room. There were entertainment events scheduled throughout the day and MK was able to experience most of them. She colored, sang to several Disney songs (including Let-It-Go), danced, read and watched shows. Nevertheless, she enjoyed shopping the most! She couldn’t even handle the bag from everything she was tossing in there. (Note: bottom right photo)
During checkout, the store associates continued to make everything fun. They wore Disney character masks to indicate they were available to help the next person in line. Super cute! MK kept pointing at them.
At 12pm, there was a Meet & Greet with Mickey & Minnie. MK was looking forward to seeing them. As we waited for their arrival, the cast members kept the kids entertained by dancing and playing games. MK was participating in everything. She would turn to look at me and give me the thumbs up (like Michelle Tanner). I love seeing her smile.
Within minutes, Mickey arrived and MK ran for her life and did not want to meet him. (Note: Top right photo) She went from laughs to giggles to telling me “Tia Sue, so scary”.
Overall, it was a magical moment for the both of us. Disney did a wonderful job putting everything together. MK and I had so much fun. Will you be visiting? What is your favorite Disney character?
