There are few things that I love more than a great pop song. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy many different forms of music. What I connect with the most, though, are the elements of a great pop song: catchiness, melodic arrangements, vocal harmonization, etc. In 2012, Jessie Ware released one of the better pop songs of the year, “Wildest Moments”. It was a song that stayed in my head for the majority of last summer and has become one of my karaoke go-to’s.
Yesterday, Pure Bathing Culture released their amazing “Wildest Moments” cover. The Portland-by-way-of-Brooklyn indie duo (guitarist Daniel Hindman and keyboardist Sarah Versprille) are known for their soaring synths and drum machines and melodic piano and guitar arrangements topped off with Sarah’s sweet vocals. With this cover, Pure Bathing Culture has expanded on all the 80s elements that Jessie Ware’s original sound had, and the result is something amazing.
