Have any of you ever suffered from digital overwhelm? I know I have. There are so many new gadgets, blog posts, online programs, videos and Facebook updates to keep track of that you feel like you will miss something if you take a break.
It will all still be there when you come back. Trust me. If you have ever watched a daytime soap opera, you understand exactly what I mean. You could stop watching a show for a year and still get caught up in a day or two on what’s going on. In essence, you didn’t miss much.
Sometimes it’s good to take a break from the digital and just hang out with friends, relax at a movie, or read a good book. It will give you a break from the constant flurry of activity and then you can come back to it with fresh eyes and perspective. I took the weekend off from Facebook, Twitter and everything else. I only came online to write this blog post. It feels good and it made me realize that I need to make a habit of taking a break from the online world.
How about you? Do you ever feel pressured to stay on top of social media and the Internet? How do you take a break?
