Her Brooklyn neighbours may be unaware of the fact that Nastasia Avrutin aka Digit + Stas is creating full-fledged, cinematic soundscapes in the comfort of her own home. Like so many solo artists who are just starting out, she tends to overdo it with all the effects that she can conjure up with her composing software. Her voice is very much her own - in fact her wavering presentation takes a bit of getting used to. Fans of avant-garde dreampop will love it.
Her mix of technology and vox humana isn't quite there yet, but a track like Route shows she is on the right track. Plus her design skills ensure that the cover art matches the music.
