Hi everyone,
Oils are a bit of a topic of debate in daily life. Some people love them while others don’t. Some are scared to use them as they think it’d lead to things like greasy skin and breakouts and that’s definitely not what anyone wants! But oils can provide a whole host of benefits and improve the overall health of your skin!
Today I’ll be sharing with you a range of different oils and going through all their various uses and advantages! Incorporating oils into your skincare regime can be really simple with these oils.
But first, Trevor from Pristine oils gives an insight into natural oils the body produces,
‘The body produces oil naturally to keep the skin moisturised. The misconception is that that oil is “dirty” – the reality is that the oil starts off as “clean” and due to exposure to the environment (dust, touching your face etc) the oils tend to trap the dirt, resulting in “dirty” oil. But the key take-away is that oil is produced by the body for a very good reason and the concept of oil cleansing replaces the “dirty” oil with beneficial ones. A basic chemistry principle is that “like dissolves like” and that’s exactly how oil based cleansers work: oil dissolves oil.
Where most people get confused is when they overproduce oil (oily skin) and tend to look for harsher cleansers. It’s actually counter-productive as this tricks the body into thinking it is lacking oil for moisturising purposes, and in turn produces more oil.’
The Jojoba Company’s 100% Natural Australian Jojoba*

- Uses: A whole host – moisturises skin, minimises scars and stretchmarks, removes makeup and conditioners hair, lips and hands amongst others.
- What I say: This oil is truly a multi-tasker in a skincare routine and I love that I can use it on my face, hair and all over my body! From applying it straight to the face and body, using a few drops in the bath to mixing a few drops into your regular face and body moisturisers, this oil works to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin to keep hydration levels up as well as softening the skin and fighting the appearance of scars and stretchmarks. - What I say: With a dropper applicator, it makes using this product very simple. Because it’s designed specifically for use on the face, I really like it’s ability to effectively target issues and improve the appearance of the face as well as knowing that it wouldn’t clog my pores or cause a reaction. This oil was moisturising, it wasn’t overly oily and absorbed well into the skin. After use, my skin was smooth and plump with a beautiful glow and clear complexion. It was quick and easy to incorporate into my facial skincare routine.

- What I say: I picked this up on clearance and I’m very impressed by this product! I find that my skin soaks up the oil very well and because of that, there is no nasty oily residue. You’re able to massage it into the areas of the skin you’d like the oil to target and I also mix a few drops into my body moisturiser to just give it an extra boost of hydration for my skin. It can be used all over the body – from the arms and legs, to the neck and chest. It leaves my skin beautifully smooth and hydrated.

Pristine Oils Facial Cleansers
- Contains: You decide! They offer customised oil cleansers and oil cleansers to suit your skin type.
- Uses: Facial cleanser.
- What I say: I really like that you’re able to create your own custom oil cleanser, meaning your own blend will contain only the oils you prefer to use on the face – whether that’s a preference or just certain oils that help target specific skin problems. I personally haven’t given the product a go but oils are one of the best and easiest ways to remove makeup so I have full faith that this product will definitely work! With the customised oil cleansers, you can also have your name printed on the bottle and that’s definitely also a bonus!

Some final tips and tricks from Trevor:
Oils are rated on a comedogenic scale – and people who are prone to breakouts should seek oils that are least likely to clog pores. E.g. of such oils – Hemp Seed, Safflower.
Studies have shown that acne prone skin is low on Omega-6 essential fatty acids (Linoleic acids). They should seed oils that have a higher % of Omega-6.
